p. 294. Will pro. 4 Feb 1800.

Part of index to Petersburg Wills and Administrations (1784 - 1800)

Note: John Crawford's 1833 Will leaves to Richard Vaughan, son of David Vaughan deceased and to Jeremiah Vaughan, son of Jeremiah Vaughan deceased $100.00. Also this will leaves to Seignora Lucy Finney and Mary Vaughan the children of Sarah Vaughan, the widow of Daniel Vaughan. Dr. Spencer C. Vaughan --wife 's name unknown, we think it was Leanna Leak Gardner but this is not certain.

Known children are:

Jane Vaughan --married Peter Vaughan 1821 , Mecklenburg County VA

David Vaughan married Lettie Newton

John Vaughan was named in the estate settlement of Dr. Spencer C. Vaughan as

his son.

Spencer was dead by 8/21/1821.

Deed Book 24, page 425 Mecklenburg County shows that Robert Williamson died leaving widow Polly. They had a daughter Elizabeth that married [Doctor Spencer] Vaughan. Elizabeth and Doctor Spencer Vaughan had a son Jeremiah and a daughter Bethia Salor Vaughan who married Warner Wortham. Accordingly, one wife of Spencer C Vaughan is known with a certainty. Also Jeremiah is proven as a son of Spencer C. The "C" stands for Crawford (See Mecklenburg Co D.B. 9, p. 152). This hints that David Vaughan, father of Dr. Spencer married Winnefred Crawford. Dr. Vaughan also had a son Spencer Jr. per Mecklenburg Co. Personal Tax Digest 1815-1816. Jane married Peter G. Vaughan. They also had a son named Spencer C. Vaughan.

JAMES VAUGHAN
