1874
I John Vaughan of Carroll County Virginia, do hereby make my last
will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say.First I give to my beloved wife, Ruth Vaughan all my lands in Carroll
County Virginia during the term of her natural life.Second. After the death of my wife I give to my granddaughter Nancy
E. Burnop my tract of land known as the Stone tract, lying on Bobbitts
Creek in Carroll County Virginia, and bounded as follows to wit.
Beginning at a locust sapling in a field by a cross fence and running
with said fence N85 E88 poles crossing a branch to a chestnut and
chestnut oak sapling in my old line, thence with said line N25 E99
poles to a Spanish oak near the head of a hallow, thence N52 W62
poles to three red oaks on a ridge, thence S52 W76 poles to a white
oak on a ridge, thence N74 W28 poles to 2 Spanish oaks, thence
leaving my old line S4 E102 poles crossing a branch to the beginning.
The above described tract of land, after the death of my wife I give
to my above named Grand daughter Nancy E. Burnop and her heirs
forever. The mineral in the aboved described tract of land excepted.Third. After the death of my wife I give to my two Grand daughters,
Ally M. Vaughan and Rachel A. Vaughan the tract of land on which
I now live, (excepting the mineral) to be equally divided between them
and their heirs forever.Fourth I give to my son Elisha B. Vaughan my interest in the Copper
property known as the Francis Lineberry property, which interest was purchased of R. M. and W. W. Lillands, for which interest I now hold
their little bond which is of record in the Clerk's Office of Carroll
County Court. I also give to my son Elisha B. Vaughan my rifle gun.Fifth I give to my beloved wife Ruth Vaughan all my other personal
property of every kind and description to dispose of it at her pleasure
by will or otherwise.Sixth, I give all the minerals in the two above described tracts of land to
my three Grand daughters Ally M. Vaughan, Rachel A. Vaughan and
Nancy E. Burnop and their heirs forever, Lastly I do herby Constitute
and appoint my wife Ruth Vaughan executrix and my son Elisha B.
Vaughan executor of this my last will and testament. I desire that my
executrix and executor shall not be required to give any bond and I also
desire that my property shall not be appraised.In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal

A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John Vaughan deceased was this day produced in Court and proved by the oaths of
John L. Minter & R. M. Vaughan two of the subscribing witnesses
thereto, and was ordered to be recorded.
And thereupon Elisha B. Vaughan one of the executors therein named, appeared in Court, and qualified as Such executor, the said will directing
