September 23, 1813In the name of God Amen
I, John Vaughan of Mecklenburg County, State of Virginia
being sick and weak but of sound deposing mind and memory
do make this my last will and testament as followeth To Wit,1st My wish and desire is that all of my just debts and funeral
expenses be first paid out of my estate.2nd My will and desire is that my negro man Joshua be sold
by my executors on the day of my sale to the higest bidder.3rd I lend to my beloved wife Amelia Vaughan one negro
woman named Luce one horse choice of the team five choice
head of cattle also all of my stock and sheep and also all of my
household and kitchen furniture and also all of my plantation
ultensils to her during her natural life or as long as she remain
my widow and after that the said property or as much as remaing
to return to the estate again.4th My will and desire is that the money arisiing from the sale
of the negro man Joshua to be laid out by my executors in the
purchase of another negro that will suit and the said negro to
fall into the possessions of my beloved wife Amelia Vaughan
during her natural life or as long as she remains my widow and
then to return to the estate again5th I lend to my beloved wife Amelia Vaughan my land and
plantation where ever I now live during her natural life or as
long as she remains my widow and after that to return to my
estate again.6th My will further is that my beloved wife Amelia Vaughan
have all of my corn and fodder that is now growing on the land
after my son William part is taken out for her own benefit and
support for the ensuing year.7th My will and desire is that after the death or marriage of my
wife that land whereon I now live containing of one hundred
and fifty acres be the same or less by my excutors and the money
arising from the sale be equally divided between all of my children
as followeth, To Wit, Stephen Vaughan, deceased, children their
part of their father, My Daughter Amelia Vaughan Overby,
Sarah Blank, Mary Green, Susannah Arrington, John Vaughan and Wm Vaughan to them and their heirs forever.8th I leave my land on the Mill Stone Branch containing one
hundred arcres to be sold when my excutors shall think best for
the profit of my estate and the money arising from the sale to be
equally divided between all of my above children to them and their
heirs forever.9th My will and desire is that all of my personable property I have
lent to my wife Amelia Vaughan after her death or mariage as
remains be sold and the money arising from the sale be equally
divided between all of my children to them and their heirs forever.10th And lastly I constitute and appoint my son John Vaughan
and Charles Hamblin my executors, to this my last will and
testament disannulling and revoking all and every other will or
wills or forms heretofore made by me.In testimony I have Set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty
third day of September, one thousand eight hundred and thirteen.Signed, Sealed, and Delivered

Will was proven and probated 18 Oct. 1813 Amelia Vaughan
maiden name was Amelia Jones. John Vaughan, the son of
William T. Vaughan (1705-1785)(WTV mt gggg-gf) John
Vaughan would be my ggg-uncle (17xx-after 23 Sep. 1813 and
before 18 Oct. 1813)
