Will of
Shadrach Vaughan

Goochland County, Virginia
July 13 1806

In the name of God, Amen:

          I Shadrach Vaughn of the C. of Goochland, Virginia, being of weak body, but Sound of mind
and perfect memory, do publish this, my last will and testament.


        First:- I give and bequeath to my son Nicholas Meriweather Vaughn, my tract of land in
Cumberland Co., laying in the fork of the James and Willis Rivers, containing 1150 acres; and the
 following negro slaves:-


        Tom, Harry, Sarah, Big Beck, Jennie and Dabney and Robin and Soloman and children of Pat.

        Also, I give to my grandsons, Julian Kean and John Vaughn Kean children of my deceased
daughter Kitty Kean, to be equally divided between them.  Twenty negros and 400 acres each, to them
and their heirs forever.


        My will and desire is, that all negros shall remain in possession of my son Nicholas for three
years in consideration of my son being charged with payment of all debts which may be due at the
time of my descease.


        I also, give to my grandsons, Julian and John Vaughn Kean, and to the six grandchildren of
my daughter Maria Miller, my tract of land on Lickinghole Creek, in the County of Goochland
containing 878 acres to be equally divided between them, also: I give to my grandson Jack Vaughn
Kean all my shares in the stock of the Bank of Virginia, to be managed by my son Nicholas M.
Vaughn till such a time as he may be of age (21 Years) also: I bequeath to my grandson Julian and
John V. Kean, my tract of land on James River called Orapax and the slaves thereon; to be equally
divided between them.


       Lastly: I constitute my son Nicholas and my friends, William Miller and James Pleasants, as
executors to this, my last will and testament.


       Witness my hand and seal this 13th., day of July, 1806.
