Vaughans of Trederwen
      Montgomeryshire Wales
      Submitted by Stan Orme

Apparently the Vaughans resurfaced at Trederwen in
Montgomeryshire Wales, it is undecided whether it is the
same family or not. The full name of the place being
Trederwen Feibion Gynwas. The name Trederwen means
Township of the Oak. The village lies on the road from
Welshpool to Ardleen with the Hall (the ancestral home of
the Vaughans)standing back from the road. In 1663 there
were 20 houses in the village assessed for Chimney tax and
John Vaughan paid tax on 7 chimneys!!

The Vaughan family of Trederwen is very old and can trace
its origins right back to Brochwel Yscythrog Prince of Powys
      who died in 617.

Arthur Vaughan was the last of the direct line and he died
with no issue 1763, lands were then convened to Ric?
      Vaughan the younger.

I have been trying to trace my GG grandfather Edward
Vaughan back but am having no luck - I have his father
being Edward Vaughan with an occupation of a Gentleman
which leads one to believe that Trederwen must be in the
picture somehow. Anyway - do with this info as you will
and I hope it helps someone.
