This is an abstract of the application of William CLOUD.

He entered service in 1776 in Henry Co., Va.. He was
born Sept. 17 1750 in Rowan Co., N. C. and was pensioned
in 1833 in Grayson Co., Va. He died Feb. 8, 1842 in Carroll Co., Va. He married, September 1838, Nancy Vaughn, in Carroll or Grayson Co., Va; widow applied for pension,
aged 42, Carroll Co., Va., 1853, where she resided with
her son-in-law, P O St. Paul; widow died Feb. 20, 1898;
on child mentioned was Martin "son of Nancy Cloud's
late husband" who resided in 1866 in Carroll Co., Va.
Widow granted bounty land warrant on Aug. 9, 1856.
Widow's sister-in-law, Martha Vaughan, resided in 1866
in Carroll Co., Va. Question in the file, 1929, from
descendant M. M. Cloud, Los Angeles, CA; question in
file 1924 from descendant Mrs. E. D. Luhring, Evansville,
IN; question in file 1920 from Maude Madera, New
Orleans, LA, states soldier married three times and 2nd
wife was Miss Morgan, further soldier and widow Nancy
had daughter and a son Washington; question in file
1908 from descendant Mrs. N. A. Greenwood, Mt. Airy,
NC, states she only surviving daughter of soldier and
widow Nancy, and made claim for $500 due
