Submitted by David D. Vaughan

Message from David D. Vaughan: "These are notes and clues I transcribed from
some early work of Vida Horton, Margorie Tillamn, and Wilma Chunn. I hope
this helps someone. Some of this material is well documented; other sections
would fall into the family 'legend' catagory."

FACTS & FICTION:

Our David Smith Vaughan's parents were William Vaughan and Elizabeth _______________. This William's father was another William Vaughan.  Possibly this William Vaughan and his brothers Rueben and Gliffordd are our original immigrants.

William Vaughan (father of our David Smith Vaughan) and his brothers Rueben and Griffidd, according to one family tradition
came to America through Nova Scotia (no verifciation as of yet)
from Wales? (Wilma Chunn) William Vaughan the parent of our
David Smith Vaughan was probably born in Glouster Co., VA near
the town of Fairfield where his ancestors had lived on Vaughan
Creek.

He left Glouster Co. and then settled in Caroline Co., VA. where Almond (1756-1842) was born.  No date or to who unless it was to Elizabeth (no surname as yet determined.

Records of Albington Church from 1677-1776 show William
Vaughan and Elizabeth had their son, David baptized there,
17 Feb 1760. William was then living in King George Co., VA.
All Glouster records were burned.

Culpepper Co., VA records show William Vaughan of County of
King George bought for 200 pounds 400 acres on 20 Sept 1770.
