Hartwell Vaughan died near Round Mt. 17 Oct. 1878 aged 90 years 6 months
23 days. Born in Greenville Co,, Va., Mar. 21, 1788; at aged 19 moved to
Union Dist., S. C.; was married to Nancy Walls Oct. 3, 1811 and in 1835 he
moved to this county where he lived until his death. He was a member of the
Baptist Church, was baptized 17 Sept, 1818.

Father of 7 children and lived to see 48 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren
and 1 great great grandchild. His posterity numbered at the day of his death
182 although he had not seen them all.
