Obituary
    Elizabeth Vaughn
    Submitted By Linda Dickson

Mrs. Lizzie Vaughn, aged 69, wife of Alfred Vaughn, was fatally injured
at her home about four miles northeast of McLeansboro, Friday morning,
      Sept. 20.

It seems that Mrs.Vaughn was engaged in scrubbing the kitchen floor, when
she slipped and fell on the wet and slippery floor, causing internal injuries.
Mrs.Vaughn was alone at the time, but managed to make her way to the
telephone and called a neighbor, who summoned Mr. Vaughn from the field
where he was working. A physician was immediately called, but Mrs. Vaughn's
condition continued to grow steadily worse until she expired at 10 o'clock
      Friday night.

Mrs. Vaughn was a good, Christian woman, who was ever ready to lend a
helping hand to those in need, and she had countless friends who are deeply
grieved by her passing. She is survived by her husband, two children, Mrs
Thomas Snyder, and Harry Vaughn, and several grandchildren. Funeral
services were conducted at Mt. Pleasant church Sunday, Sept. 22, at 11:30,
by Rev. M. C. Holder in the midst of an immense congregation of sorrowing
relatives and friends. Interment at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Note from Linda:This is my great grandmother, from McLeansboro, Illinois.
