Benjamin Boisseau Vaughan

(Special to The Times-Dispatch.)PETERSBURG, VA., May 24.- Mr. Benjamin Boisseau Vaughan, one of the best
known and most highly esteemed gen(here is where thier obit is messed up and
repeats words) jamin Boisseau Vaughan, one of the best(sorry but I am typing what
they printed!) eleven o'clock last night at his residence in Market Street, after an
illness of several weeks from heart disease.Mr. Vaughan was in his sixty-second year, and was a native of Dinwiddie county,
but had resided in Petersburg since boyhood. He was educated at the Virginia
Military Institute, and in the Civil War, served in the Amelia Cavalry.Mr. Vaughan was a member of the firm of Vaughan, Hill and Company, a long established leaf tobacco house, and was for many years president of the National
Bank. He was an elder in the Tabb Street Presbyterian Church, and Mr. Vaughan
married Miss Dunn Stephenson, of this city, who survives him with two daughters,
Mrs. Hamilton Seabury, and Miss Martha D. Vaughan, both of this city. The funeral
of Mr. Vaughan will take place from Tabb Streeet Presbyterian Church, Saturday
morning at 11 o'clock.
Note from Beth: Benjamin, Jr. married to Martha Dunn Stephenson actually. I am descended from Benjamin Boisseau Vaughan, Sr.'s brother, James B. Vaughan 1823-1868 who married to Delia Susan Archer 1825-1865.
