John P. Vaughan Sr.

Longtime Soldotna resident John P. Vaughan Sr., 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at his home
in Soldotna with his family by his side.

Memorial services were held Nov. 26, 2005, at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church on Kalifornsky
Beach Road. Pastor Dan Thornton officiated at the service.

Mr. Vaughan Sr. was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Sikeston, Mo. He graduated from high school and
was in the National Guard for eight years. He moved to Soldotna in July 1968.

In 1969, he began working for Homer Electrical Association. He worked for them as a lineman
and later a supervisor for the line crew. He retired in 1996.

Mr. Vaughan attended and was actively involved at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church. He was
also active with the Barbershop Quartet. He enjoyed fishing, boating and carpentry.

“Life without him is hard to imagine at this time, but all of our lives are richer by our having
had him in them. He was loved deeply, and we will miss having him here with us,” his family
said.

Mr. Vaughan was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Vaughan Sr., and
an older brother, James B. Vaughan Jr. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna Vaughan
of Soldotna; son and daughter-in-law, John and Chris Vaughan Jr. of Fairbanks; daughters and
sons-in-law, Kimberley and Jim Webb and Jacki and Merle Jones all of Soldotna; grandchildren,
Jeff Webb of Soldotna, Cory Webb and his wife, Stacie, of Portland, Ore., Megan Webb of Wasilla,
Kelly Vaughan of Omaha, Neb., and Trevor Jones of Sacramento, Calif. and Vonda Best and
husband, Richard of Wasilla; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Alyssa Webb of Soldotna, and
Shania and Sienna Best of Wasilla; and a brother, Bill R. Vaughan of Kirkland, Wash.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Vaughan’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
