John
Vahan of Welsh decent emigrated to Massachusetts from Wales early in the
17th
century. He removed to Rhode
Island in 1638. Eight other brothers descended from John
lived on Rhode Island. Three
of them removed to Chester, Nova Scotia between 1762 and
1768 and settled there.The
three brothers were John, Daniel, and Anthony. John and
Daniel removedto Quaco, New
Brunswick where they became wealthy in ship building
and their descendants are
still living there. Anthony remained in Chester and resettled
near Oak Island.
