Many people have always connected our William Vaughn to William and Fereby.  I've never thought this was correct.  Ancestry DNA confirmed it when results came back 0% Native American. This was just my second test to confirm we are NOT related!

My dilemma now is this.

Attached is a photo of my William Vaughn/Margaret Wells family.

It comes from a book:

"HANCOCK COUNTY, TENNESSEE AND IT'S PEOPLE", Volume# 2, 1994.

page# 188. Submitted for the book by Jessie Etter "Jack" VAUGHN, of Gray, Washington County, Tennessee.

William and Margaret's children are as follows:

George Washington 1816-1908

Mary Amanda 1817-1855

Margaret Lydia 1826

Jane Gencie 1828-1923

Thomas Jefferson 1829-1870 (wrong spouse listed in description)

Sterling 1830-1869 (wrong spouse listed in description)

James L 1832-1891

Wiley 1835-? (not shown in photo, believed to be taken around 1845)

William also had a previous marriage with an unknown named spouse.
Wilson is a son from that marriage.

There is a large gap between birth years of Mary and Margaret.  I've often wondered if (1) the marriage date I have for William and Margaret is incorrect and (2) were Wilson, George AND Mary all children from William's first marriage?  The only child ever known as being from the first marriage is Wilson.

The Wilson and George in your study, show the same male lineage as in my records (spouses and descendants), BUT have the YDNA as if descendants of William and Fereby. (Turquoise group should be the ones who are the descendants...from what I have read, something about having 15 on 392)

I just don't know enough about DNA!!  I guess my questions is:
How would Wilson and George get the YDNA that matches William and Fereby?  And still be half siblings of James in our family line?  If William married a daughter of William and Fereby would that DNA be passed on and traceable through a YDNA test?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
