Notes:

On November 26, 1869 the ship City of Washington landed in New York Harbor.

The ships manifest showed the following passengers with the surname Vaughan:
Thomas Vaughan, age 35
Martin Vaughan, age 28
Martin Vaughan, age 11
I am rather certain that:

the Thomas Vaughan, age 35 is my great-grandfather;

the Martin Vaughan, age 28 is a brother or cousin of Thomas;

and the Martin, age 11 is my grandfather.

Martin age 11 coincides with information on his death certificate as to how long in the U.S.

I think Thomas came to the U.S. after his wife Katie died.

My birth certificate reads James E. Vaughan.  My father changed the family name to Vaughn.

Jim Vaughn.
