1814? Petition of Craddock Dickie re trust for Martha Vaughan, daughter of Craddock Vaughan of Lunenburg Co., VA. John Dickie, father of Craddock Dickie m. Martha Vaughan, daughter of Craddock Vaughan. John and Martha Dickie moved from Lunenburg Co., VA to Laurens District, SC on or about 26 Dec 1806. Martha Vaughan Dickie died in July 1812. The children of Martha Vaughan Dickie are Nancy, wife of William Crymes, Craddock, Susannah, wife of Sterling Westmoreland, James Dickie, died as a minor without issue, Willis, Polly, Parthenia, Patsey, Malinda and Mourning. He youngest 5 children were minors at the time of the petition. John Dickie, husband of Martha Vaughan Dickie died in October 1813. 18 Jun 1814, The court appointed John Westmoreland, John Moon, Joel Dean, Zadock Ford and James (or Jairus) Vaughan to partition the slaves owned by the trust. Sep 1814, return determined that the slaves could not be equitably partitioned and should be sold. James Vaughan, the trustee was then a resident of Halifax Co. ______, page 22-25a.
