Vaughan Cemetery
Tennessee
Submitted by Telma Anderson

From Tombstone Inscription of Davidson County TN, Vol II, 1981 - Richard Fulcher.

There are two stones left standing in this cemetery (pictured below).

One is for Nancy D. Vaughan a daughter of Johnson Vaughan
and Elizabeth Lowe #2 wife.  I believe she is buried in the same
place as her sister/cousin that died at the age of one,  Elizabeth Vaughan the daughter of Johnson and Nancy Lowe Vaughan. Nancy and Elizabeth Lowe were sisters.

The survey of the cemetery says:

Elizabeth Vaughn born May 2, 1795 died October 26, 1834
This is Johnson Vaughan's second wife the sister of his first wife.
Nancy D. Vaughn born Jan. 22, 1820 died October 8, 1844 and Eliza Vaughn born August 7, 1811 died Dec. 18, 1812.

According to a plat of the Vaughan Cemetery done a long time ago:

Location:  Rear of home of Mrs. Murray Nicholson, 801 Percy Warner Blvd, bordering street which has dense plot of trees and undergrowth.

Comments:  Evidence of a rock wall still exist.  (part remains)

This cemetery was in the plantation of Johnson Vaughan in Nashville, TN, Davidson County.

I have been working with a Mrs. Fletch Coke, a volunteer surveyor from Davidson County.  She was the one that put me in contact with Patti Bryant to see what can be done to restore the cemetery.  I have talked to one of the neighbors, Mrs. Nicholson, her mother-in-law was the one that stopped the contractor over 30 years ago from totally destroying the cemetery.
