Notes on John William Vaughan
John William Vaughan was the captain of Co. F, 13th Regiment Arkansas Militia. The regiment was called into service briefly from
February 24 to March 9, 1862, for annual inspection and drill, but otherwise saw no service during the Civil War.
The 13th Militia was the militia regiment of Pulaski County (including that portion later annexed to Lonoke County). Captain Vaughan
is listed in the 1860 census of Gray Township, Pulaski County, with wife Elizabeth A., and children Sarah F. and William H.

Donna
Jean Glasgow is researching this group of Vaughns. Donna wrote
me stating:
"I am directly descended from William Wilson (W.
W.) Vaughn and Rebecca Grace
Chappell Vaughn (Rebecca G.). They are my great-great
grandparents. Their daughter
was Rebecca Ann Melinda Vaughn, wife of William
Ross Latimer. Others buried there
include Heny Marshall Vaughn (Henry M.), another
son of W. W. Vaughn. Although
I am not descended from him, he was the first husband
of my great-great grandmother,
Sarah Elizabeth Neal Vaughn. Sarah's father
was Noel Owen Neal. Giles McElroy
Neal was her brother. All the other Vaughns
and Neals there are interrelated by blood
or marriage and related to me as well--so they
are ALL mine". If you would like to discuss
this line with Donna Jean, click on her name, above.
