U.S. Census, 1920, Coon Rapids, Iowa, Role 481.
Charles W. Vaughan, male, white age 78 widowed, father born in Illinois;  mother born in Vermont, a retired farmer, head of household, living with his sister.

Eliza Vaughan Ketchum, female, white age 82, widowed.

[Note: there is Grace and Irene Ketchum in Fruitland Township, Muscatine County, IA, which is where we suspect Great  Grandmother Effie Schrieber, Adelbert's wife, may have hailed -- or perhaps Fort Dodge, IA which is near Williams, IA.]

[Unproven relationship - remains to be documented - this may or may not be "our" Bert, but I'll bet it is from geography and proximity and the dates are probable.]

Bert is white, 40 years old, born in Iowa, residing at 528 Woodlawn Avenue, Rockford, Winnebago County, IL with wife Madge, white, age 38, born in Iowa..



Notes for ADELBERT HADLEY VAUGHAN:

U.S. Census - 1920, Roll 481, for Coon Rapids, IA, Adelbert owned his own farm, free of mortgage, male, white, 46 years old, able to read and write, a salesman for the oil company.


Notes for EFFIE SCHRIEBER:

According to the 1920 Census, Effie was born in Iowa and her father in Illinois and mother in Ohio. She could read and write.



Notes for WAITE LEDGYARD VAUGHAN:

Waite's application for Social Security (a copy of which we have on file) indicated that his employer was The Ingersoll Milling Machine Company, on Douglas Street and Willoughby Avenue, in Rockford Illinois, and that he resided at 702 Merrill Avenue, Rockford, Illinois, at the time of his application. He applied at age 31 on December 12, 1936.

State of Illinois, Dept. of Public Health -- Division of Vital Statistics,Standard Certificate of Death, Registered No. 556; #34168, Place of Death,Winnebago, Registration District Number 943, County of Winnebago, Rockord,Illinois, Primary District No. 3744. 142 Adams Street. Ledyard VernonVaughan lived at the above address 16 years and 10 months. [Moved from Iowain 1911?] 50 years, 1 month and 28 days at death. Cashier of the Street Railway an employee of Rockford Republic  Service. Name of father, Charles W. Vaughan -- born in Illinois and Laura A Young, mother, born in Illinois.

Informant is Ledyard's son Henry F. Vaughan also of 142 Adams Street.

Place of burial was Greenwood Cemetery in Rockford on September 14, 1927; undertaker W.R. Julian of McAllister, Julian.

Certified cause of death on 9/12/27 was chronic myocarditis from which he suffered for two and a half years. There was no operation or autopsy and Byron Fay Mock, M.D. , signed the death certificate on 9/13/23 and it was filed.
